Who Are the Baptists?
The Baptists are the only sect of Christian Churches that have never been affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. We are not, and never have been Protestants.
There have always been Baptist Churches. We were founded by Christ, planted by the apostles, and preserved by the grace of God.
We have had many names through the centuries - Waldenses, Lollards, Paulicans, Separatists - until finally the Catholic Church settled on calling us Anabaptists, which was later shortened to Baptist.
"I should not readily admit that there was a Baptist Church as far back as 100 A.D., although without doubt there were Baptist churches then, as all Christians were then Baptist."
-John Ridpath (Methodist Historian)
Our Goals
At Wells Road Baptist Church, our main goals are to win souls and to strengthen and equip believers.
WHAT WE DO
We strive to honor and please Christ in both our activities and manner of service to Him. Whether in a children's activity or an adult Bible study, we want to help others enjoy learning about and serving the Savior.
OUR COMMUNITY
We have a dynamic personal evangelism program to reach the lost in our community from house to house.
How to Get Saved
The most important thing in life is to know where you will spend eternity. Find out how to know for sure what will happen when you die.
Religion can never fill the emptiness inside of you, but that emptiness can be filled!
Jesus told a religious man in John 3 that nless he was born again, he would never see the kingdom of God. Religion cannot save you. No church can save you. Your good works cannot save you. The Bible tells us the only way we can be saved.
1. Realize There is None Good
Romans 3:10 "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:"
2. See Yourself as a Sinner
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God:"
3. Recognize Where Sin Came From
Romans 5:12 "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:"
4. Notice God's Price on Sin
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
5. Realize that Christ Died for You
Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
6. Repent of Your Sin
Acts 17:30 "God...commendeth all men every where to repent:" (To repent means to turn from your sin. Without repentance there can be no salvation.)
7. Take God at His Word and Claim His Promise for Your Salvation
Romans 10:9-10 "That is thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Now pray; confess that you are a sinner, repent of your sins, ask God to save you, and receive Christ as your Saviour.
